URINALS return -
February, 2008: Beginning in January, the band has been playing and will continue to play as URINALS. After 18 months as THE CHAIRS OF PERCEPTION, we felt it was appropriate to return to our original name -- the new material and its presentation is in keeping with the band's history. It felt like this was the right decision. It's our 30th anniversary, by the way, and to mark the occasion we are working to re-release the 100 FLOWERS CD, as well as release new material (we've started to record this month.) More on that as we progress. In the meantime, we will continue to post upcoming performance info, pictures, MP3s and video clips on MySpace (see below.)

THE CHAIRS OF PERCEPTION migrate to MYSPACE -
October, 2006: We've been busy! Since our Summer debut, we've played with SAVAGE REPUBLIC at the revived Safari Sam's nightclub in Hollywood, shared a couple of bills with the HUMAN HANDS, and done several shows at The Blue Mask (touted as "the best Mask since The Masque" in the LA WEEKLY.) Later this week, we are to support YO LA TENGO at The Fillmore in San Francisco. The band has developed considerably, to such a degree that we feel comfortable describing it as "the next generation URINALS." Indeed, we continue to perform several URINALS and 100 FLOWERS songs in our live sets, and much of the new material takes off from there. Instead of adding yet a third moniker to this site (how clunky is URINALS / 100 FLOWERS / THE CHAIRS OF PERCEPTION?), I think it makes sense to assign the history of the band to this website and to direct interested parties to www.myspace.com/chairsofperception for our current goings on.

THE CHAIRS OF PERCEPTION -
March, 2006: We're putting the URINALS aside for the time being. With last Fall's personnel shakeup, we felt it was time to do something different -- and so here it is, our new band, the next step in Urivolution, THE CHAIRS OF PERCEPTION. Joining Kevin Barrett and John Talley-Jones is guitarist Rob Roberge. ROD departs -
October, 2005: Rod Barker, our guitarist extraordinaire (listen to WHAT IS REAL for proof) since 1998, has left the band to pursue other interests. The rhythm section (Kevin & John) wish him the best and hope to announce a new guitarist by year's end..

YET ANOTHER ROCK BIO -
June, 2005: We've been approached by a local literary press about writing a book about the band's on-again/off-again 27-year history. Which we've started! If anyone can steer us in the direction of former members DELIA FRANKEL and STEVE WILLARD, please drop us a line at urinals@hsr.com. Thanks!
